Congressman Phil Roe came to Rogersville for a town hall meeting May 20, 2011. A large crowd gathered at the Hawkins County Education Facility to participate in an informative question and answer session. He was introduced by former Congressman Bill Jenkins, the pledge to the flag was led by Col. Kenny Collier, Commander of the American Legion Post 21, the National Anthem was sung by Jim Bowman, Hale Vance, and Johnny Greer.

Republican Party Officers have had a busy summer.

Cecile Testerman and Kathy Cradic both officers in the Republican Party made a trip to Atlanta on August 13 to the Shaun Hannity Freedom Concert. On the concert program was Leonard Skynard, Charlie Daniels, Oliver North and Michael W. Smith. Other folks from Hawkins County who attended were Donna Heck and her husband from Mount Carmel.

Also, Cecile and Kathy were honored to be invited to the Sunquist homecoming event in Nashville on August 28th. Friends of the Sunquist administration from all across the state were there to show their loyalty to former Governor Don Sunquist and his family. Also in attendance that day were US Senators Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander and former Governor Winfield Dunn.

The Hawkins County Party had a meet and greet for Congressman Phil Roe at the home of Mrs. Helen Testerman on September 13th. A hugh crowd showed up supporting Phil, Senator Mike Faulk, State Representatives Mike Harrison and Dale Ford.

Our next event will be a Bill Haslam Rally on September 30th at 6:00 pm at 601 East Main Street in Rogersville. This will be a time to show Hawkins County's support for Bill Haslam and pick up campaign items and signs. Bring your lawn chair and plan for a fun evening.

We made it through the county primary, and although some fence may need to be mended, we need to remember our goal, which is to elect Republicans and come together as a unified group.

The next election will be August 5th, and will be our state primary. We have three outstanding candidates for governor: Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam, Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey, and Congressman Zach Wamp.

Bill Haslam's Hawkins County Coordinators are Gaylon Williams and former county mayor Heiskell Winstead. Ron Ramsey's County Coordinator is Senator Mike Faulk, and Zach Wamp's County Coordinator is Charles Sharits. You can see any of these gentlemen to get information and campaign literature.

I will also be available to help all the candidates, and after the primary we can all move together and elect a Republican for Governor in November!

Congressman Roe's office has committed to helping us to host out Veterans Event which will be held Memorial Day evening at the National Guard Armory. Record Turnout for Republican Meeting

The Hawkins County Republican Party had a record turn out at the meet the candidates meeting January 12th. A thank you to our moderator, Judge Jay Taylor, who did a great job, Glenda Davis, who prepared a delicious meal, and all of the Republicans who came to show their support. Remarks were made by candidates from the state and local levels. Jim Bowman, Brad Price, and Steven Bowman were gracious as always to provide us with music. Former County Mayor Heiskell Winstead got the crowd about excited about the 1020 election year cycle, and the importance of integrity among the candidates when they are speaking about each other

Lincoln Day Reception Postponed

Due to several circumstances, the Lincoln Day Dinner will be postponed until further notice. We are making plans for a Veterans Event Memorial Day evening, which may take its place. We will be having meetings in the communities across the county as the Republican Primary draws closer. Dates to mark down are: February 18th - Surgoinsville Middle School Cafeteria, March 1st - Mooresburg Elementary School Cafeteria, March 16th - Clinch School Auditorium. All meetings will be from 6 until 8 PM. All candidates should attend.

All Republican Women are urged to attend the meetings, which are the second Thursday each month at noon at Charlie’s restaurant. Also, men can be associate members. We need to keep this club strong. We are proud to have Cynthia Jackson as our state Vice President.

Troop Greeters Project Underway

The local 278th will be leaving form the armory in Greeneville Sunday morning, December 6th, at 9:50 AM. The Hawkins County Republican Party Coalition will be leaving from the Super Dollar parking lot on Hwy 66 at 8 AM. We have posters already printed showing our support of the troops. Following the send off, anyone that wants to will go to breakfast before coming back to Rogersville. Haslam Visits Hawkins County Republicans

A record breaking crowd of Republicans met at the Hawkins Elementary School Monday evening, November 9th to hear keynote speaker Bill Haslam, Mayor of Knoxville and candidate for governor, who was introduced by Heiskell Winstead. Mayor Haslam told the attendees why he was a Republican and why he thinks he should be the next governor of Tennessee.

Chairman Cecile Testerman and Judge James "Jay" Taylor introduced the Hawkins County GOP's new community service project which is Troop Greeters which will consist of people that will go to the airports and welcome home the servicemen and women. County Commissioner, Virgil Mallett was recognized for his many years of loyalty and service to the Hawkins County Republican Party. Candidates who intend to run for office in the 2010 County election were reminded that they may pick up petitions on November 20, 2009. Also on Memorial Day evening 2010, Randy Kington of Morristown will be headlining a monumental Veterans Event for Hawkins County. Plans will be getting under way in January. Meet Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey Thursday

RON RAMSEY wants a promotion from Lt. Governor to Governor. He engineered the Republican takeover of the State Senate. He's the National Chairman of the Lt. Governor's Association. And he's our neighbor - a lifelong resident of Blountville.

Ron Ramsey was instrumental in the election of our own Mike Faulk to the State Senate. He made Faulk the Chairman of the powerful Senate Calendar Committee in his first year in the General Assembly.

Come meet and greet the Lt. Governor in Rogersville on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 6pm at Hawkins Elementary School. This is a location change from the previous venue of Price Public School.

Ron Ramsey currently holds the second highest position in State government. If he wins the GOP primary next August, he will likely become Governor. If he doesn't, he'll still be Lt. Governor and very, very important to the future of Hawkins County.

The first Town Hall Meeting in Hawkins County was a big success. Congressman Roe attended the first meeting at Cowboy Cafe on August 12th. A huge crowd was in attendance. There will be another one in September, and the date will be announced shortly. The next Hawkins County event will be a Meet & Greet for Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey who is a candidate for governor. This will be held at Prices School at 6:00 PM on August 24th.

Tea Parties in Area

There have been numerous Tea Parties in our local area. There was a Tea Party September 4th in Dandridge, and on Labor Day in Kingsport. Cecile Testerman, Lois Mayes, Lisa Manis, and her daughters sold their Tea Party buttons that were designed by Lisa. Dob and Joyce O'Brien, local member of the Hawkins County GOP will be traveling to Washington September 18th for the National Tea Party, and we will get a report at the GOP meeting September 24th at 6:00 PM in the upstairs courtroom at the courthouse. Mark your calendar and plan to attend. This will be a combined meet and greet for Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey. The local party has already hosted a similar meeting for Congressman Zach Wamp and Bill Gibbons, both who are candidates for governor.

Salute the Veterans at Signature Healthcare

The Salute the Veterans program at Signature Healthcare in Rogersville was wonderful. Danny Price with Congressman Roe's office and Danny Breeding, Veterans Service officer, honored the resident veterans. Beautiful music was provided by the Spires Chapel Quartet and Jim Bowman, Hale Vance, Ralph Jones, Larry Begley, and the Hawkins County Orchestra. The next program will be July 23rd at Church Hill Healthcare and Rehab. Senator Mike Faulk will make the presentation from the Hawkins County GOP. The On To Victory Womanless Fashion Show Proceeds are being used to fund these events.

Largest Fundraiser Ever for Hawkins County GOP

The Hawkins County Republican Party pulled off the largest fundraiser in the party's history Saturday evening May 9th at the Rogersville Middle School. The record breaking crowd enjoyed an evening of hilarity and seriouness with a "Womanless Fashion Show" which showcased thirty-three beauties of the Hawkins County Republican Party. This was followed by a veterans recognition program by Congressman Phil Roe. Three gubernatorial candidates, Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey, Congressman Zach Wamp, and Mayor Bill Haslam of Knoxville each had a chance to speak to the audience. The Hawkins County Orchestra consisting of Hale Vance, Jim Bowman. Gene Vance, Ralph Jones, and Vickie Shell had the crowd in stitches with their musical selections.

The Hawkins County Womanless Fashion Show is coming together by leaps and bounds. We now have 30+ models, and guys are still trying to enter! Congressman Roe will be there and introduce all veterans. The meeting was conducted in a professional manner and there were numerous comments on the positive feelings that was in the room. What an exciting night in Hawkins County! We now have a State Senator from Hawkins County to represent us . Way to go Mike Faulk. Our hard work and dedication paid off when District 4 elected Mike Faulk to the State Senate. Buddy Testerman and Heiskell Winstead, both dedicated life long party loyalists (in spite of their age) campaigned tirelessly to see that Mike Faulk was elected.
Also, Congratulations to Mike Harrison and Dale Ford, who were re-elected to the State house and to Phil Roe who was elected as our new Congressman from the 1st district.

We are certainly depressed over our loss in the President's race but we still have much to be thankful for, two US Senators, a State Senator, Three State Representatives, and a Congressman all Republicans were elected to represent to us.

The Christmas party will be December 2, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at the home of Chuck and Kay Holt. It will be for all elected officials and party officers. The ladies will take care of details.

The last rally October 13th was a huge success. Lots of children and veterans were in attendance along with other loyal Republicans. Lowell Bean, our Grill Master, did his usual good job with the hot dogs. State Rep Dale Ford signed autographs for the kids and kept the crowd in stitches with his jokes. State Rep Mike Harrison recognized the veterans and Brad Price came through as usual with his sound system. Chris Manis, our auctioneer, did a great job and we raised a big amount of money thanks to
all the people who donated items for our auction and purchased them. Leanna Manis and Lindsey Johnagin, our youngest volunteers, lead the crowd in the pledge. In spite of the rainy weather a large group of dedicated golfers came out in support of State Senate Candidate Mike Faulk. A golf tournament headed up by Billy Keck and his friends from Union County was held at Clinchview Golf Course in Bean Station, Tennessee. Luke Lee and Mark Linkous of Rogersville showed their support and said they had a wonderful time. Mike continues to do well and would like to go on record and thank Buddy Testerman who is at the Headquarters every single day campaigning for Mike. His positive attitude and the respect he has in the communtiy will go a long way in November. Let's all continue to work toward a straight Republican ticket.

The first rally of the election season was a HUGE success with a 200 or more crowd. Chefs Lowell Bean, Frankie Davis, and Luke Lee showed their grilling skills and the crowd went crazy over the food. Bill Jenkins gave the best speech ever for Senator McCain. The Spires Chapel Trio again gave an outstanding performance.

First District Congressional seat captured by Roe

Several people from Hawkins County traveled to Johnson City election night to celebrate Dr. Phil Roe's victory in the First District Congressional race . It was clearly a nail-biter because of low voter turn-out across the First District. Also, it has been many years since an incumbent congressman has been unseated. Dr. Roe told his audience that his victory was due to the grass-roots organization in each county. We would like to thank our current congressman David Davis for his years of service to the people of the First District and wish all the best in his future endeavors.

We passed on the newspaper reports out of Nashville in the past couple of weeks that Democrat State Senators have been transferring their state mail money to Mike Williams to get him re-elected.

Here's the latest news from the Nashville Post: Mike Williams has now hired veteran Democrat fundraisers to try and resusitate his re-election efforts.

His campaign finance report shows his campaign is on life support and only union money and money from prominent Democrat Mike McWherter leaves his campaign with any pulse at all.

Dear Republican Party Member,

As you know, we are gearing up for the one of the most crucial elections in recent history. The National election will have a direct effect on the future of our Country. Whether or not we agree on every issue of Sen. McCain, it is imperative that we stand behind him and our Party, because it is clear that Sen. Obama does not stand for the good of our great Nation.

It is also very important that we, as Republicans on a local level, do everything we can to elect Mike Faulk as our next State Senator. We have the chance to not only have a Republican but to have someone from Hawkins County. When Sen. Williams left our Party and decided to go his own way, he turned his back on the very people that worked so diligently for him through financial donations, phone calls, and just plain hard work.

We are also privileged to have Mike Harrison as State Representative from Hawkins County. Mike has always been there for us and we need to do everything possible to keep him in Nashville.

After the Republican Primary, we need to come together and support whole heartedly our Congressional nominee because he will face Democratic opposition in November.

According to our bylaws, during an important election year, we are to meet on a monthly basis. This is a good time to fellowship, obtain materials, and help our candidates. We need to have good turnouts at these meetings to show the strength of our Party. The Executive Committee has met and formed a list of dates, which we hope will be convenient for everyone. Liberal Democrat Memphis Senator Jim Kyle Wants to Be Lt. Governor: Helps Mike Williams' Campaign with Mail Money

Over the last few weeks, you've probably received "official" mail from Senator Mike Williams asking for your opinion or reminding you of the sales tax holiday.

Each State Senator is allocated $6,832 per year for constituent mail and postage. In a copyrighted story appearing in the Tennessee Journal, we learn the spring sales tax holiday mailer sent by Williams cost taxpayers $5,530 and the legislative update piece sent by Williams cost another $4,508. The cost of these and three other mailers far exceed the Senator's yearly constituent mail and postage allotment.

That Sen. Williams would use this asset paid for by you and me as a taxpayer expense during an election year to further his re-election efforts is not surprising or uncommon. But the sheer number of pieces sent by the former Republican, now self-declared Independent raised eyebrows.

If re-elected, is there any doubt who Williams would support for Lt. Governor: East Tennessee Republican Ron Ramsey or Memphis liberal Democrat Jim Kyle?

2nd Quarter Financial Disclosures: Nearly 10-1 Cash-on-Hand Advantage for Faulk

Disclosures for the 4th District State Senate race between former Republican Mike Williams and real Republican Mike Faulk are out for the second quarter. Faulk has a nearly 10-1 cash-on-hand advantage over Williams with 116 days left until the November 4, 2008 election - $143,000 to $15,000.

In the 2nd quarter, legislators were prohibited from raising money until May 15th . To be fair, it must be noted Faulk had twice as much time as did Williams to raise money. But Faulk outraised Williams 28-1.

The Mike Faulk for State Senate Campaign raised over $58,ooo during the quarter. Williams, who sent a fundraising letter to his special interest friends before the General Assembly convened, was able to raise less than $2000 for the reporting period.

Mike Williams Breaks Another Promise: Will Run Again Despite Term Limit Pledge!

Click on the Morristown Citizens Tribune article above and read for yourself in the article above the promises Mike Williams made in 1996 when he first asked for our vote to be State Senator.

He said leaving the State House before serving 8 years was his way of keeping a promise to term limit himself. He said he'd continue to work for term limits once we sent him to the State Senate.

Despite telling folks he wasn't running again and despite telling folks he has stayed longer than he intended, Mike Williams qualified to run for reelection as an Independent at the very last minute on April 3rd.

Eight years have now become eighteen years and Mike Williams wants four more years!

Williams doesn't want to talk about term limits now that he's served 12 years in the State Senate. He should have limited himself to 8 years in the Senate. If he had, these last four years would not have played out the way they did.

So much for term limits! So much for promise keeping! Looks like limiting his terms to a total of 18 years is up to us.

The Hawkins County Lincoln Day Dinner last night was tremendous with a record crowd of nearly 400 from all over east Tennessee. Senator Bob Corker was the keynote speaker and the crowd raved about his wonderful speech and the way he mingled with the attendees.

He was introduced by our Lt. Governor, Ron Ramsey, who also introduced our own Mike Faulk by reading a letter of endorsement from Congressman Zach Wamp.

Mike Faulk made a big splash with his announcement to seek the state senate seat in the fall. Phil Roe, candidate for Congress, attended, and the crowd seemed to really respond to his campaign.

Photographs were taken and will be displayed soon.

The entertainment was outstanding, and the highlight was when Senator Corker held the music for the group, which consisted of Brad and Jessica Price, Jim and Steven Bowman, and Lynn Mahan. We hope they will perform again soon.

The dinner was catered by Klassy Katering and, again they provided a delicious meal.

Lois Mayes and Carl Bailey were presented the Man and Woman of the Year award. We will provide more details later. Here are a few pictures now.

Linda Kimbro is the GOP nominee for the recently vacated seat on the Hawkins County Commission for the 4th District. Mike Seals was nominated at the County Caucus on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 for a vacant Constable position. Each will appear on the August 7, 2008 ballot.

The election of a Republican Senator in Tennessee's 4th Senate District has very important statewide implications not only for Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey and the State Senate, but also for all members of the State House and the U.S. Congress. The Senator we elect in November 2008 will hold the Redistricting pen in his hand in 2011.

Until the current Senator representing the 4th Senate District, which includes Hawkins County, abandoned the Republican party, the GOP had a majority in the State Senate and was in a position to prevent the Democrats from gerrymandering Tennessee seats in the U.S. Congress and in both chambers of the Tennessee General Assembly after the next Census. Now the Tennessee Senate is evenly split with 16 Republicans, 16 Democrats, and 1 flip-flopping Independent.

Mike Faulk attended graduate school and law school in Memphis, worked as a Management Analyst for Shelby County governent, and was the Courtroom clerk for a Memphis Chancellor before returning to home in Hawkins County. While in Shelby County he managed the Gubernatorial Campaign for Lamar Alexander in House District 93 and was the Campaign Manager for a candidate for Congress that included Shelby County.

Former 1st District Congressional Candidate Vance Cheek, Jr. will host a fundraising picnic for Mike Faulk at his Boone Lake home in Washington County on the afternoon of April 26th. More details will follow.

A tentative date has been set for the Grainger County Lincoln Day Dinner. On Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 7:00 pm at the Rutledge Middle School Congressman Zach Wamp will provide the keynote address.

Hawkins County State Senate Candidate Mike Faulk will also attend. This will be the first area Lincoln Day Dinner after the filing deadline [April 3rd at 12 noon] for State Senate and State House seats so the field of competition will be known at this time and the races will begin to heat up.

The Hawkins County GOP Lincoln Day Dinner is set and we are pleased to announce that our keynote speaker will be United States Senator Bob Corker. Numerous Hawkins County folk help swell the attendance numbers at the Jefferson County Lincoln Day Dinner Saturday night at Carson Newman College in Jefferson City. Katherine Jenkins was there to watch husband, Bill, introduce the keynote Speaker, Second District Congressman Jimmy Duncan.

Bill Snodgrass and Danny Roy Price were attending on behalf of Dr. Phil Roe.

Tennessee 4th Senate District candidate Mike Faulk was there with his mother, Rosella Dykes Faulk, his sister, Kathy King, her family, and two more tables full of supporters from throughout the 4th Senate District.

Heiskell Winstead, Charles Sharits, Claude & Ann Ferrell, Gerald and Melinda Eidson, and Hawkins County YR Chairman Kelli Walker & husband, Bill also attended.

A large delegation from Hawkins County attended the Claibonre County Lincoln Day Dinner Feb. 15 at Lincoln Memorial University.

Among the Hawkins County contingent were Hawkins County party officers and spouses: Chuck & Kay Holt, Cecile & Luke Lee, Kathy Cradic, Lois Mayes, and Frankie Davis. Also, attending were Hawkins County Highway Supt. Lowell Bean and wife, Linda, Jerry & Betty Walters, Hawkins County Young Republican Chairman Kelli Walker, Dr. George Testerman of Kingsport and State Senate hopeful Mike Faulk. Other guests at the Hawkins County tables included blogger Rob Huddleston who authors Voluntarily Conservative his wife, GOP State Executive Committeewoman from Knox County, Angela Huddleston, and their newborn son, Leo.

Lois Mayes won an autographed red plaid shirt from United States Senator Lamar Alexander, who was also the keynote speaker. Alexander was introduced by Nashville radio talk show icon, Steve Gill.

Gill was the talk show host who rallied the citizens of Nashville to surround the Capitol and blow their horns in displeasure when the legislature was trying to pass a state income tax. The Steve Gill Show was broadcast live from the Lincoln Memorial campus on Saturday.

Steve Gill endorsed Mike Faulk for the State Senate telling the crowd to send his old buddy, Mike Faulk, to Nashville as its next State Senator so the Tennessee Senate will have a true conservative as the solid 17th vote in a Republican majority.

Attendees also enjoyed meeting Dave Chesney, father of renouned Country Music Star, Kenny Chesney, who will run for a seat on the Claiborne County Board of Education.

Saturday, February 23, 2008, is the date for Jefferson County's Lincoln Day Dinner according to Jefferson County GOP Chairman Hobart Rice.

Congressman Jimmy Duncan representing Knoxville will keynote the event to be held in the University Cafeteria at Carson Newman College in Jefferson City.

In spite of the cold weather, a good crowd showed up January 24th to meet the candidates before the February 5th election.

The four GOP candidates for Property Assessor were introduced by Vice-Chairman Cecile Testerman. Incumbent Don Cinnamon, Kathy Cradic, Jess Helton and Jack Price spoke telling why they were seeking office.

Also, Hubert Neal and Stacy Vaughn, candidates for County Commissioner made remarks.

State Senate hopeful Mike Faulk gave an update on his campaign.

Glenda Davis announced she would be seeking reelection to the Hawkins County School Board.

Kelli Walker, President of the newly established Young Republican's Club, gave a report noting the new club will be meeting February 18th at 6:00 PM at Charlie's Restaurant.

The next meeting of the Hawkins County GOP will be February 21st at 6:00 PM at the Court House.
