Blackburn Visit Fuels Fast Start for Faulk Campaign

Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn was the special guest at two Race Day Fundraisers for State Senate Candidate Mike Faulk this Saturday in advance of the Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. A 10:00 a.m. start time for the Dandridge brunch dropped the green flag on the Race Day events. Tennessee GOP Vice-Chairman Bob Rial came all the way from Dickson, Tennessee to attend.

Blackburn told the enthusiastic Jefferson County crowd at Smokey's Steak and BBQ that after the 2010 Census the Tennessee General Assembly will redraw the lines for all State House, State Senate and U. S. Congressional Districts in 2011.

Tennessee is likely to pick up one additional congressional seat after the next Census. The Senator we elect from the 4th Senate District in 2008 will hold the pen that draws those district lines since the Tennessee Senate will have to approve those districts. Republicans have to ask themselves: In whose hands to you trust that pen: Mike Faulk or someone who left our party?

Faulk and Blackburn made a pit stop at First Baptist Church in Dandridge to visit with members who were doing a community car wash before heading to Kingsport for a 1:00 p.m. reception at the Wray Law Firm.

An overflow crowd that included Shirley Ward, current President of the Tennessee Federation of Republican Women (TFRW) from Covington, Tennessee, Annette Pannell, a past President of TFRW from Kingsport, and Barbara McAndrew, another past-Presidnet of TFRW from Dandridge, two GOP State Representatives, three of the candidates for last year's 1st Congressional District Republican primary, and two past Sullivan County Mayors heard Faulk tell the crowd the most unnatural part of campaigning is talking about himself, "Mom and Dad taught me it is impolite to talk about yourself. I know I've got to get used to doing that. But the one thing I want you to know about me is this: I'll not be outworked."

From Kingsport, the Campaign caravan headed for Bristol for where it crossed the finish line just in time for the Sharpie 500!

Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn To Stump for Mike Faulk

The Faulk for Senate Committee, even though Mike Faulk has not officially declared his candidacy, is off to a thunderous start with the help of Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, who herself is a former Tennessee State Senator.

Blackburn, a GOP heavy-weight who represents Tennessee's 7th Congressional District, will campaign for Faulk at two fundraising events kicking-off the Race for '08 on Saturday, August 25, 2007, on Race Day before moving on to the Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The $50 per person or couple casual events will take place at Smokey's Restaurant on Court Square in Dandridge, Tennessee at 10:00 a.m. and in Kingsport at the Wray Law Firm at the corner of Broad Street and Main Street at 1:oo p.m. as the campaign caravan makes its way to Bristol.

Tennessee GOP Elects New Chairwoman: Robin Smith from East Tennessee

State Executive Committeewoman Cecile Testerman and Local Party Secretary Kathy Cradic attended last Saturday's Tennessee GOP Executive Committee meeting in Nashville and participated in electing Robin Smith from Hixson, Tennessee as the new Chairwoman for the Tennessee Republican Party. Former Chairman Bob Davis is expected to take a high-profile role in the Fred Thompson for President Campaign.
