The local 278th will be leaving form the armory in Greeneville Sunday morning, December 6th, at 9:50 AM. The Hawkins County Republican Party Coalition will be leaving from the Super Dollar parking lot on Hwy 66 at 8 AM. We have posters already printed showing our support of the troops. Following the send off, anyone that wants to will go to breakfast before coming back to Rogersville. Haslam Visits Hawkins County Republicans
A record breaking crowd of Republicans met at the Hawkins Elementary School Monday evening, November 9th to hear keynote speaker Bill Haslam, Mayor of Knoxville and candidate for governor, who was introduced by Heiskell Winstead. Mayor Haslam told the attendees why he was a Republican and why he thinks he should be the next governor of Tennessee.
Chairman Cecile Testerman and Judge James "Jay" Taylor introduced the Hawkins County GOP's new community service project which is Troop Greeters which will consist of people that will go to the airports and welcome home the servicemen and women. County Commissioner, Virgil Mallett was recognized for his many years of loyalty and service to the Hawkins County Republican Party. Candidates who intend to run for office in the 2010 County election were reminded that they may pick up petitions on November 20, 2009. Also on Memorial Day evening 2010, Randy Kington of Morristown will be headlining a monumental Veterans Event for Hawkins County. Plans will be getting under way in January.
